Classes available for the 2014-2015 studio year:
Foundation/Core Liturgical – Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 Mrs. Heather Zachary
Advanced Liturgical – Tuesdays 5:00-6:00 Mrs. Heather Zachary
Psalm 149:3 declares, “Let them praise His name in the dance….” God delights in our gifts of praise through using our bodies as instruments, but liturgical dance has so many more purposes in the heavenly realm then we often realize.
In this class students will learn the background of liturgical dance, God’s purpose for it, the different types of liturgical dance, and the power it has in the spiritual realm. Students will also learn how to adapt to different spaces and audiences, develop discernment in creating Christ-honoring choreography and costumes, and how to hear and obey the Holy Spirit calling them in dance. Liturgical uses different types of dance (ballet, modern, jazz, mime, sign language, etc.) as well as different props (fabric, flags, etc.). Many styles and props will be used throughout the year.
A ballet technique class is strongly encouraged in accompaniment with liturgical.
